6 Reasons Why You’ll Hate Lugano, Switzerland 

Lugano, the picturesque town in the Ticino region of Switzerland is the most popular tourist destination in Switzerland.

Nestled in a bay surrounded by mountains on the northern side of Lake Lugano, it is known as the “Monte Carlo of Switzerland” since its become a playground for celebrities, famed athletes and entertainers over the years.

With a population of about 70,000 residents, Lugano is the 9th largest city in Switzerland and is the largest Italian speaking majority outside of Italy. Italian is actually the official language of the region. The climate is perfect offering a slightly oceanic and subtropic climate. So, how could you come to hate such a beautiful place?

Here’s 6 reasons why you’ll come to hate Lugano, Switzerland:

#6. You’ll hate how fucking beautiful it is. Like, the views are disgustingly stunning.

Lugano is an attractive shopping destination offering loads of luxury designers, like Versace, Louis Vuitton, and Salvatore Ferragamo, but also tons of boutiques by indie and local designers. There are all kinds of shops and department stores to buy anything your heart desires.

#4. You’ll hate the plethora of fun to be had.

From gambling to paddle boarding to sailing, Lugano offers a wide array of activities. you can enjoy the Mediterranean temperatures, palm and olive trees. If you really want to relax, just sit at a table in one of the squares. And with its mild climate, you can do what everyone else does here: eat, drink , and be merry! If you’re an adventure junkie or in need of something more thrilling, you can go skydiving, paragliding, canyoning or hot air ballooning in nearby Ticino.

Getting There: Lugano has its own local airport (code: LUG) with direct  flights from Zurich, Geneva, Milan, Amsterdam and many other cities in Europe. You can also get to Lugano by car (2.5 hrs from Zurich; 1.5 hrs from Milan, 1 hr from Como) or via the inter-regional rail system.

    1. Hi Roxana, I think my headline might be a bit misleading. I absolutely loved Lugano and Ticino! The points written in article are actually reasons you’ll hate [to leave] Lugano. The article speaks very highly and positively of the area. I had a great experience and visit quite often as I live near Zurich. Apologies if the title was misleading, just a writing tactic to entice readers to click on the article.
