Eco del Mare: Lerici’s Luxury Hideaway

Poet's Bay in Lerici, Italy

Ever wanted to feel like you were on a deserted island? Well, you’re in luck. The uber-chic Eco Del Mare Eco-Resort in Lerici, Italy is the perfect hideaway to escape and relax, with all the essential amenities. So grab your sunnies and sunscreen, and leave Wilson at home.

Set on the shores of a secluded Lerici bay on the Golfo dei Poeti, this boutique beachfront eco-resort is just 13 km from La Spezia and a short drive to the picturesque villages of Cinque Terre.  We took a day trip out to Cinque Terre to explore the villages of Porto Venere and Monterosso and it was stunning!

The Rooms

The uniquely styled rooms have a modern nautical vibe and feature exposed beams, plus handcrafted and antique furnishings. They have stylish seating areas and rustic styled en suite bathrooms; some have terraces and/or direct access to the beach. We stayed in the Il Volo Junior Suite with a double terrace and just s few short stairs to the beach. Did I mention there’s only six, yes S-I-X guestrooms to book on the entire property? At Eco Del Mare, you don’t have to be a Kardashian to get the privacy and exclusivity you crave.

The Food

Breakfast and dinner is served at the beach-side restaurant and has a laid-back terrace featuring natural stone walls, wooden tables and plastered with a collection of re-purposed and recycled pieces, from old wine crates, to oil barrels to wooden shipping pallets. I absolutely fell in love with the breakfast, which featured fresh baked croissants and pastries, fresh seasonal fruits, juices and your preferred choice of eggs. If you don’t fall in love with the food, you’ll certainly fall in love with the view. Just keep an eye on the seagulls, which are eyeing your croissants trying to hawk a bite!

The Beach

The beach beds that line the pebble stoned beach are exclusively for the guests of Eco Del Mare and patrons of its Night & Day Beachclub. So you won’t have to worry about finding a plot among the crowds of tourists. You have a front row, reserved seat to the beauty that of Poet’s Bay. The bar is craved into a cave on the mountain side and features quotes works of famous poets.

We only stayed two nights, but I could’ve stayed a lifetime. We left Lerici with a renewed spirit and ready to conquer our next stop: Tuscany!
